When dad goes to the Halloween Costume store

On Saturday morning John took Annie on a Daddy daughter date to look for her costume. She wanted to be a vampire but they couldn't find a costume in her size so she is a witch. But John surprised us all by buying a costume for himself & has been scaring everyone all weekend by popping out in his mask & gloves! He thinks it is hilarious, and Oreo is scared to death of it! He thinks it is so funny to run around chasing the dog! So if you come to our house on Halloween just know I warned you!

The Garrison Kids are ready

Charlie & Annie had their school Harvest Festival this weekend and I got a cute picture of all of them in their costumes!

Charlie is Zorro, Annie is a witch and surprise, Audrey is Cinderella (her favorite!!!)

Fish Fry...

So part of the fishing expedition involved a fish we had to cook. Well the sight alone turned my stomach so it was a dad job to help Charlie clean and cook it!

They chopped it up and dredged it in flour, eggs & bread crumbs and then they fried it! Who knew the kids would all love it so much!

(Audrey did feel horrible for the "poooor fishie" as she watched her dad chop off it's head!)

Fall Crafts

I love checking out crafting blogs - I would love it even more if I had time to do some of the things I see on those blogs. But... I did decorate our front porch for fall it is nice to know I can leave it through Thanksgiving! I love living down the street from Davis Ranch. When the kids and I went last weekend we went on a tractor ride, the kids rode horses, and they helped me pick tons of pumpkins, a hay bale and corn stalks!

The kids do get to carve some of the pumpkins so it will look like Halloween for Saturday night!

Charlie's fishing trip

John took Charlie on a fishing trip this week and Charlie was the winner of the fish! These are a few of the fish that he caught! He could only keep the one he caught in Lake Shasta so the big one with the guide had to go back into the lake because they caught it in the river. But... there is a bloody fish in the fridge that I now get to figure out how to cook for dinner!!!

Really....

So this morning about 4:30 I gave up on trying to sleep in my own bed, between being pregnant and having to go pee every hour and Audrey and John pushing me out of bed I thought the couch would be much more comfortable and I might grab a few more hours of sleep before everyone woke up. Really, life just doesn't work that way. About 15 minutes after I feel back asleep on the couch Audrey comes down and pokes me and says mom, can you take my pony out of my hair (translate: take the rubberband out of my pony tail). So I reach out in the dark thinking no problem to feel a wad of something in her hair, so I get up turn on the light and there is a huge wad of caramel in her hair. I have no clue when it got in there because it wasn't there yesterday and you would have thought if she was going to get caramel in her hair she would have done it when we were making caramel apples yesterday!

Sleepily I tell her to just lay with me for 30 more minutes and we will go get it out. Thankfully she did and we both slept for another hour or so before we finally got up because it was what she calls "morning time". We headed back up stairs to deal with the hair. After a 15 minute struggle with the vegetable oil and peanut butter it is out but hopefully mom can get a good nap today!

Monday Morning

I don't think I am any different than any other mom in the world. On Monday's it is a partial relief to have the kids and John back to their routine and then a slight dread at the busy week to come. Today on my schedule was to do laundry and put the house back together this morning so when I came down and opened my washer I was not thrilled to see the agitator broken off and laying to the side. But I must say I am pretty darn proud of my self. I ran over to the little Ace Hardware at the plaza, bought the washer I needed and put the agitator back together.

So now that it is fixed I guess I need to get to work!
